Mount Royal College
At MRC we are in the middle of implementing several new Ed Techs for our Faculty and learners.
In the Winter we are looking at doing a trial of the Horizon Wimba communication tools. These tools will add the following to our Blackboard system.
- Macromedia Breeze Presenter - this tools is easy for instructors to use to prepare recorded multimedia presentations and post them to the Web. Breeze allows for quiz and survey questions to be embedded in the presentation. The server allows presentations to be accessed across courses and from dial-up low bandwidth connections.
- Respondus Bundle - Tools for creating and managing tests and surveys that integrates with Blackboard. Includes a Lock-down browser for increasing security on closed book tests and Studymate , which allows instructors to build a variety of interactive study aids for students.
- SMART Ideas - A tool for creating and teaching concept maps for presentations, assessments and notetaking.
- Chalk & Wire - A tool for online portfolio building and management.
In the Winter we are looking at doing a trial of the Horizon Wimba communication tools. These tools will add the following to our Blackboard system.
- An online virtual synchronous classroom/meeting room.
- An asynchronous audio based discussion board.
- A Podcasting management system
- A set of voice based assessment tools
- An audio based instant messaging tool
