Jeff Hamilton
Hi! I am interested in running again for a board position with ADETA. The purpose of this page is to give you a brief introduction to myself and give some reasons for wanting to serve the ADETA community.
I work at the Lethbridge College teaching science and math courses. I started teaching there in 1986 and have enjoyed every minute working with the good people there. For a five or six year stint I was the admin for academic technologies for the college and it was then that I first came in contact with this wonderful thing that is ADETA. My first Interface conference was with Clayton and GMCC. My first real draw to the conference came as I was using CML with math and wanted to touch base with other CML-PUGgers. Being associated with ADETA became something I enjoyed. I'm sure I learned many good things that I have promoted at Lethbridge and have implemented in my teaching but more importanty I made some good friends.
I enjoyed my time helping our faculty at LCC work with technology but there came a time when my first love, teaching, came calling. I chose to turn down an appointment and return to teaching; I wanted to practice what I had been preaching as a tech guy. So, for the past two and half years I dropped out of any provincial contacts and have had my nose to the grindstone with students. I have found it exhilerating and what I really love doing. I recognize now that I have some things to contribute to the provincial community in terms of what works and what doesn't in online learning, distance education, and plain using technology in education. So, when Rod asked if I was interested in returning to ADETA, I had to admit that I was.
My contact information follows if you wish to contact me.
